The hens have had a good 2 years of life out on pasture every day. As these hens are older than a normal meat chicken (only 8 weeks old) the stewing hens will need to be slow cooked (we use a pressure cooker) which makes the meat beautiful and tender.
We love cooking these and shredding the meat to make chicken noodle soup, tacos/burritos or curries. Any leftover water from cooking the hen makes full flavoured chicken stock to add to soups etc.
